Global Education and Development Initiative

Our philosophy promotes sustainable human development and advocates for marginalized families.

Our Mission

Break the cycle of poverty by promoting sustainable human development.

Our Vision

GEDI envisions developing initiatives taking into consideration a holistic approach to the education of each child and adult in their existing communities. In providing child and family protection, in a nurturing and loving environment where learning is encouraged, our aim is to provide a safety net for risk-taking and self-actualization.

How we help

GEDI intends to provide education, health and community development to children and families living in rural
villages or in impoverish region in the world; regardless of race, ethnicity, religious beliefs or political associations.

Education

Through its partner school project believes high-quality programs for children & families are achievable. The goal is to serve and support our model of excellence in childcare and education services.

Safe Water

GEDI aims to provide safe water through well-drilling, pumps and training in hygiene and sanitation decreases child mortality and frees up time for education instead of water collection.

Food

Outside food distribution to a focus on creating sustainable food supplies through agricultural programs and nutritional training ensures that children are well-nourished and healthy.

Healthcare

Good health is the foundation of a child’s life. Access to essential services, vaccinations, medical clinics, and training in disease prevention provide stronger health, for children and their communities.

Child Protection

We advocate for child rights and encourage children to speak up against abuse & injustice. By educating families about child rights, they are better equipped to keep their children safe.

Empowerment

Microloans, business education and a variety of trades and skills training enable families to provide for their children’s needs, as well as helping them to build a better future.

Our Experience

FEJ was founded in 1985 by Lucienne Duncan, who was born and raised in Lamardelle, Haiti. Its initial mission was to break the cycle of poverty in Lamardelle, but it expanded to other parts of Haiti as well. FEJ today has three non-profit organization branches – one in Haiti, one in the USA, and one in Canada.

FEJ Canada raises funds and supports FEJ’s programs in Haiti in addition to developing education and development initiatives in Canada.
